Make it easier
Set up once, save time every showing
A little setup turns a scramble into a routine.
Keep ready
- A "showing basket" to sweep counter clutter into and take in the car
- A lockbox or locked drawer for valuables and medications
- Lamps on smart plugs or timers
- A go-bag and leash for pets
South Louisiana habits
- Run the AC ahead of summer showings so the house feels cool at the door
- Keep a mat and towel by the door for rainy days
- Check for musty smells in closets and under sinks
- Sweep the porch and walk after storms
Skip strong air fresheners and candles. Some visitors have allergies, and heavy scents can make people wonder what is being covered.

Showing questions
Should I be home during a showing?
Usually no. Being out lets buyers look around and talk openly. If you sell on your own and have to be there, have another adult with you.
What should I hide before a showing?
Medications, jewelry, cash, keys, mail, personal documents, small electronics and firearms. Lock them up or take them with you.
What temperature should the house be for a showing?
Comfortable for someone walking in from outside. In a South Louisiana summer that means running the AC before they arrive.
What do I do with my pets during a showing?
Take them with you if you can. If not, crate them and let your agent know so the showing notes say so.
How much notice will I get before a showing?
It depends on what you set with your agent. Tell us the notice you need and your blackout times, and we will build them into the showing instructions.
